Salzburg airport is the largest airport in Austria outside Vienna and is just 97km from the TAUERN SPA resort. The excellent transport infrastructure makes it easy to travel into the nearby city and to the towns and villages in the surrounding area. Salzburg airport is also very close to the motorway. Therefore, it is the ideal landing location for visitors spending a summer or winter holiday in the Salzburger Land region. There are a number of transfer services from the airport.

Bus connections from Salzburg airport to Salzburg

Public buses operate at regular intervals between Salzburg airport, Salzburg main railway station and the city center.

  • The bus line 2 takes you from the airport to the main train station. It operates daily every 10 (on Sundays and public holidays every 20) minutes between Salzburg main railway station and the airport. Journey time approx. 20 min.
  • The bus line 10 will take you from the airport to the city center (Mon-Sat). It operates every 10 minutes from the airport via Salzburg city center to Salzburg-Sam. Journey time to the city center approx. 15 min.

Passengers may plan routes and check real-time bus information via an English language smartphone app. You can download the free app "qando Salzburg" for both iOs and Android. To use Salzburg’s public transportation, a valid ticket is required. Tickets are available at the "Newscorner" in the airport terminal, at the bus stop (machine) or from the bus driver. Please keep in mind that all tickets purchased in advance must be validated upon entering the bus. It is also possible to purchase tickets with the "qando Salzburg" app.

From Vienna (Wien Hbf) to Salzburg (Salzburg Hbf)
There are direct train connections available from Vienna to Salzburg – the journey will take you about 2.5 to 3 hours (depending on which train you take).

From Vienna International Airport (Flughafen Wien Bahnhof) to Salzburg (Salzburg Hbf)
There are also direct train connections between the Vienna International Airport and Salzburg main railway station (journey time about 2h 50min or 3h 15min, depending on the train).

From Munich airport (München Flughafen Terminal) to Salzburg (Salzburg Hbf)
It is also possible to travel from Munich airport to Salzburg by train. You will have to change trains once (at the station "München Ost"). The total train journey will take you about 2h 20min.

From Salzburg (Salzburg Hbf) to Zell am See (Zell am See Bahnhof)
Travelling by train from Salzburg to Zell am See will take you about 1.5 to a little under 2 hours. There are direct trains available as well as connections where you have to change once (at the station "Schwarzach-St.Veit Bahnhof"). Zell am See train station is located in the town center and in walking distance to many hotels, cafes and restaurants.

If you arrive by train in Zell am See and want to get to the Tauern SPA resort, the most comfortable option is to take a taxi (there is a public taxi stand in front of the train station building).

You can also go by bus. The regional bus line 660 operates between the train station Zell am See (stop: Zell am See Bahnhof (Bus)), the conference venue (stop: Kaprun Tauern SPA) and the town center of Kaprun (stop: Kaprun Ortsmitte).
Depending on the traffic, the ride will take you 15-20 minutes. Please tell the bus driver the name of the stop where you want to get off and buy the ticket directly from them (the ticket should cost you around € 3.60).
